Diane “Toots” I. Goebel, 75, of Richland Center passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Pine Valley Community Village. She was born on March 12, 1949, in Richland Center, WI, the daughter of Vernon and Mae (Schmidt) Deaver. She graduated from Richland Center High School. She married SM SGT Larry Duane Goebel and divorced 30 years later. Our Mom was a loving and caring mother, even if you weren’t hers. She welcomed our friends to stay at our home when they needed the type of love, compassion, and structure that only she could give. She was a very compassionate and tolerant woman. Mom was very involved in our lives, she always made time for us, our school programs, and sporting events, she also enjoyed cross stitching and lots of crafts, from making door stoppers (chicken, geese) and pantyhose potatoes in a basket, gardening, nothing was ever too small or out of reach. She deeply loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, she was always there for her family and anyone else who needed her. We will miss her hugs, cuddles, back scratches, and the smell of her white diamonds. Mom loved music, whether it was singing Neil Diamond on road trips or dancing to the golden oldies in her living room. Mom was a charismatic woman with a spark that so many people loved. She was a military wife and learned a great dance of independence, she was always willing to show her cut and paste that she and her best friend Jane would do. She loved to go to the races and watch her best friend Jane’s son Andrew race and take the grandson with her. She also loved playing dress up with her granddaughters and watching them try on her clothes and many other activities that would happen throughout their time spent with her. She lived her life as her true self, on her own terms, until the very end. She will be deeply forever missed and never forgotten. Survivors include her 2 sons, Brian (Susan) Goebel of Bear Valley, WI, David (Cassie) Goebel of Salt Lake City, Utah; 8 grandchildren, Cassandra Abbott, Alayna Goebel, Bradley Goebel, Brianna Goebel, Parker Goebel, Joshua Goebel, Bryrick Goebel, Jayden Goebel; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, James (Monica) Deaver of Richland Center, WI, Gary (Kenda) Deaver of Richland Center, WI; best friend, Jane (Clark) Morrissey; many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Vernon Cleo Deaver; mother, Mae Kathryn Schmidt Deaver; 2 brothers, Ronny Deaver and Donny Deaver. Thank you to Pine Valley for their wonderful care of Diane. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 10:30 AM with visitation starting at 9;30 AM at the Clary Memorial Funeral Home.
