Patricia "Pat" Mayenschein Keene

Patricia Delores Mayenschein Keene, age 94, of Richland Center died Sunday, January 17, 2021, at Pine Valley Community Village in Richland Center. She was born on April 1, 1926, in Illinois the daughter of Thomas and Edna (Sepican) Durkin. She was one of five children. She married Harley Mayenschein in September 1947. Together they had three children in their over 35 years of marriage. He preceded her in death. She then married Richard Keene in 1988. Patricia enjoyed gardening and even when she moved to an apartment, she continued to grow plants on her patio. She loved crocheting for her grandchildren, their friends, and any of her friends’ children/grandchildren. She made a delicious cherry cheesecake that was highly requested at family holidays, with a recipe that no one could quite figure out how to duplicate. She was also very active in volunteer roles until she was near 90 years old. After retirement age, she volunteered for many years teaching CCD at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richland Center and spent numerous years as a volunteer grandparent in the St. Mary’s Elementary School. She was very proud of that role and kept pictures that the children drew her for many years. Survivors include her 3 children, Michael (Loida) Mayenschein of Owasa, Oklahoma, Patrice (Gerald) Gunville of Rolla, North Dakota,Joseph (Linda) Mayenschein of La Valle, Wisconsin; 6 grandchildren: Melissa (Royce) Dieter of Rib Lake, WI, Michelle (James) Johnston of Elburn, Illinois, Michael (Kari) Mayenschein of St. Charles, Illinois, Nathan (Michelle) Mayenschein of Dayton, Ohio, Mark (Tezra) Menne of Richland Center, and Christopher Mayenschein of La Valle, Wisconsin, 12 great grandchildren (Heather, Nicholas, James, Meaghan, Michael, Madison, Max, Jacob, Olivia, Everly, Harley, and Locke); one great great granddaughter (Clara), other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, two brothers, and two sisters. The family would like to thank Pine Valley and their dedicated staff for all their tender loving care they provided her after her femur fracture 4 years ago that allowed her to live the last years of her life comfortably. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 22, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Richland Center with Monsignor Roger Scheckel officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
