Francis J. Wiedenfeld

Francis J. Wiedenfeld, age 73, of rural Ithaca died Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Pine Valley Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center. He was born on July 4, 1940 in Ithaca Township to John and Elizabeth (Durst) Wiedenfeld. Francis graduated from Ithaca High School in 1958. In 1962 he met his wife Virginia Kenyon, and they were married April 27, 1963 at St. Mary's in Richland Center. Francis played slow pitch for many years both Co-ed and Men's league. He was a member of Keyesville Cemetery board for over 40 years. He also served on Richland Equity Board, Richland County Council of Co-ops, Ithaca Town Board, Lone Rock and Richland Center Fire District Board and Neptune Cemetery. Francis enjoyed being at family gatherings, and he especially enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchild. He also liked playing Euchre with his friends. In the last ten years Francis and Virginia spent time traveling with his brother Richard and his wife Ann. They especially enjoyed the city of Branson. Francis is survived by his wife, Virginia; two sons, Vince (Betsy) Wiedenfeld, Mark (Amanda Swenink) Wiedenfeld; a daughter, Mindy (Art) Shrader; 9 grandchildren, Nicole Meixelsperger, Heather (Kyle) Dickey, Dakota Wiedenfeld, Nicholas and McKenzie Weeden, Miranda and Dakota Shrader, Morgan and Aubrey Wiedenfeld, and a great granddaughter Brooklyn Weeden. He is further survived by his brother, Richard (Ann) Wiedenfeld and their children, Jill (Joe) Plonka, Abbie and Ally; Scot (Sarah) Wiedenfeld, Alex and Kayla; Tom Wiedenfeld; Lori (Domonic) Rott. Also survived by his sister, Mary (Bob) Fry and their children, Bobby; David (Mary) Fry, Jenny and Jason; Jan (Lyle) Holloway; Lisa (Jim) McGlynn, Steven, Patrick, Katie, and Robert; John (Kim) Fry, Logan and Lindsey; Kristy (Mauricio) Ortiz, Diego and Izzie; other relatives and friends. Francis was preceded in death by his parents, John and Elizabeth; and a nephew, Steven Fry; and a niece, Gwen Holloway. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 12:30 PM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Keyesville. Fr. Larry Bowens will officiate with the burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at the Clary Memorial Funeral Home in Richland Center from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and also on Thursday at St. Mary's, Keyesville from 11:30 AM until the time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials can be given to Pine Valley Foundation, Ithaca Lions Club or Mill Creek Cemetery.
