June Marilyn Savinski

June Marilyn Savinski (née Hedstrom) passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord after a short illness, on January 15, 2016 at Harvest Guest Home in Richland Center, WI at the age of 87. She had been apart from her one and only true love, her husband, Pete for 52 years...she is "home" again. June is survived by her children, Kim (Kevin) Sandker; Karin (Bill Anderson) Tepley; and Kathy Hansen, all of Richland County. Grandchildren: Andrew Sandker, Aaron (Jannea) Sandker, Pete Sandker, Frank (Vicki) Brown, Kelly (Scott) Coppernoll, and Erick Hansen. Great-Grandchildren: Avery and Chicory Sandker, Fiona, Blythe and Faris Sandker, Makenna and Eli Brown, Ira, Isaiah, Isabelle, and Ilias Coppernoll, and Avah Hansen. In 1946, June made a difficult decision and allowed her daughter to be adopted. In 1979, Mary Jo Kuenzer found her birthmother and was joyfully welcomed into the family. June also gained a son-in-law Keith, 4 Grandchildren: Michael (Marny), Brian (Linda), Kristyn, and Matt (Jessica), 14 Great-grandchildren, and 2 Great-great-grandchildren. (All located in Upper/Lower MI) June’s nieces and nephew were very special to her - Eric Kamecki, Lorraine (Leslie) Thoune, Nicole Harris, Cindy Fitzsimmons, as was sister-in-law, Ruthanne Schatzman. She thought a lot of her neighbor, friend, and handyman, Harold Studnicka. He helped her often and accepted a simple “thank you” and a smile in return for payment, and once in a while some homemade goodies! She is preceded in death by her loving husband: Peter Frederick Savinski, her parents: Marion (Proctor) and Martin Hedstrom, her brother: Conrad Kamecki, and her sister: Lorraine Gilchrist. June was born on June 4, 1928 in Iron River, MI to Marion (Proctor) and Martin Hedstrom. June married the love of her life, Peter on October 25, 1947. They left Michigan and traveled together to Coos Bay, OR for a short time before settling in Racine, WI to raise their family. Throughout her life, June was a homemaker first and enjoyed taking care of her family. She also worked in various manufacturing settings, and retired from Medical Engineering as a supervisor. She moved to Richland Center in 1984, and started a business with her sister, Lorraine, (J & L Pasties) where they made an Upper Peninsula of Michigan favorite - the Pasty! She then went on to work at the Coin Laundry for several years. After she retired again, she continued to care for people’s clothing - washing and ironing for a few busy teachers and business owners. She loved doing laundry so much that she continued the service for one business, Shireman Veterinary Clinic, up until her illness. June loved to crotchet and garden (flower and vegetable) and she shared those passions with her daughter Kim. Packer and Badger football games were some of her favorite pastimes with Karin. June also loved to embroider and sew and she shared that talent with Kathy. Even though many miles apart, Mary Jo shared the love of making Pasties with June. She was also a huge Milwaukee Brewer’s fan and spent many hours enjoying and cheering for her team. Pudgy (pug breed dog) was June’s favorite and her beloved companion. Pudgy kept her company and her lap warm until she was no longer able to care for him, and allowed a friend Teena to take over his care. At the request of the family, no funeral will be held.
