Kleppe, age 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 25, 2021, at his home in Richland Center. He was born at home near Ossian, Fayette County, Iowa on April 5, 1942, the son of Frederick Herman and Gladys Harriet (Helgerson) Kleppe. He married Linda Schulze on November 28, 1975 at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, IA. Bernell was a farmer beginning at age 17 up until 1994 when he retired from farming and became a full-time semi driver. He took a lot of pride in everything he did and kept his landscaping and equipment, especially his semi, in meticulous condition. Bernell, along with his family, was well known for tractor pulling. Along with tractor pulling, he enjoyed Nascar, the casino, traveling the country side and working in the yard. Survivors include his wife Linda Kleppe of Richland Center, WI; 4 children, Brett (Barb) Kleppe of Madison, WI, Kelli (Mike) Becker of El Paso, TX, Brian (Michele) Kleppe of Richland Center, WI, Jason Kleppe (fiancé Megan Murphy) of Richland Center, WI; 9 grandchildren, Ben (Jenny) Kleppe of Rosemount, MN, Katie (Jeff) Jossart of Luxemburg, WI, Ashley Becker, Mikaela Becker both of El Paso, TX, Katelynn Hilleshiem of Lancaster, WI, Brayden Kleppe, Morgan Kleppe, Chelsey Kleppe, Cole Kleppe all of Richland Center, WI; 4 great grandchildren, Madison Kleppe, Jacob Kleppe, Scarlett Becker, Jaxon Saenz; a brother, Leslie (Vivian) Kleppe of West Union, IA; 3 sisters-in-law, Deanna MacMillan, Teresa (Kevin) Carlson, Doris Kleppe; 2 brothers-in-law, Richard (special friend Helen) and Rodney Schulze; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Frances Blockhus, Lavonne Osmundson; brother, Gordon Kleppe; parent-in-laws, Earl & Delores Schulze; many extended family members and close friends. A celebration of Bernell’s life will be held at Noon on Thursday, July 1, 2021, at Clary Memorial Funeral Home in Richland Center. Friends may call on Thursday, July 1, 2021, from 10:00 AM – Noon at Clary Memorial Funeral Home. Local military honors unit will be provided.
