August 22, 1961 - July 6, 2014
Christine "Chris" Lynne Ott Chris lost her long, courageous, roller-coaster war with pancreatic cancer on July 6 at home with family and in the excellent care of the Upland Hills Hospice team. She was born in Belvidere, Il on August 22, 1961 but moved to the Excelsior, Wi area with her family when she was 13 years old. On the "farm", she hiked the hills and loved the woods and tended to a variety of animals. Later in life, she became a 4H small animal judge. A graduate of Riverdale HS, she became a US Army diesel mechanic and, upon discharge, she found her gradual vocations in health care. She attended South West Technical College for her EMT, CNA, LPN, and finally Registered Nurse training. She worked at the Richland Hospital and Boscobel Hospital. For the last few years she was a Travel Nurse with her husband throughout the country but mostly on the Navajo-Hopi reservations in Tuba City, Az. She is survived by her husband of 10 years, John Rigby, and mother Joan K. (Andresen) Ott who lived with them in Muscoda, Wi. She had 2 daughters, Kerri Corcoran of Milwaukee, Wi and SSgt Katherine (Corcoran) Pyka (husband Jeremy) in the US Army in Colorado Springs, Co who has 2 daughters, beloved grandchildren Magdalena "Lena", Mikayla "Mika" Curtis, and grandson Jayden Pyka. Chris had 2 sisters; Marlene (Russell Tilsner) of Waukesha, Wi and Karlene (Neil Broesch) of Hartford, Wi who were indispensable during her long illness. She was also very close to, and appreciated the love and support of all of her family including her Aunt Judy Andresen, cousins Mike and Scott Andresen of Richland Center, Wi, and Niece Katie and Nephew Jonathon Broesch of Hartford, Wi. Many other dear Andresens include her Aunt Sandi in Rockford, Il Uncle Bob (and Elaine) in Chicago,Il, cousins Rick (and Elisha) in Rochester, Mn, and Rob (and Joe) of Denver, Co. She spoke German and has relatives there as well. She is predeceased by her father Karl Ott and her Uncle Hans Andresen as well as her grandparents. The warm and caring support and companionship of her many friends, coworkers, and colleagues at the Richland Hospital was much appreciated. She also wanted to acknowledge the excellent care she received from the Madison VA and UW hospitals who helped her wage her war; providing competence, confidence, and hope through so many difficulties and complications. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please make any donations to the South West Technical College healthcare vocations dept. A Celebration of Life visitation for Chris will be held at Clary Memorial Funeral Home, Hwy 14 East, in Richland Center on Thursday, July 10, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:30PM with a short service at 7:30.
