George "Doc" Hobbs, Jr.

October 22, 1934 - June 13, 2014

George "Doc" Hobbs Jr., age 79, of rural Lone Rock died Friday, June 13, 2014 at his home. Doc was born October 22, 1934 in Ferryville, WI the son of George Sr. and Julia (Bolstad) Hobbs. On September 24, 1955 he married Audrey Persinger at the Little Brown Church in Nasha, Iowa. Together they farmed for many years and later Doc drove semi. Doc loved to spend time on the house boat, fishing, listening to country music, and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include his loving wife Audrey of 58 years of Lone Rock; a son Rick (Roxanne) Hobbs of Sextonville; 3 daughters Lori (Earl) Bailey of Excelsior, WI, Tina Compty of Spring Green, Christine (Dan) McDonald of Sauk City; 8 grandchildren Misty Schaller of Richland Center, Jason (Lorilee) Hooks of Muscoda, Julia (Matt) Wallin of Excelsior, Stacy (Lance) Colson of Sextonville, Danny Hobbs of Fort Collins, CO, Richard Compty of Spring Green, William Compty of Spring Green, Amanda McDonald of Sauk City; one step grandchild Connie Morales of Fall River, WI; 10 great grandchildren Brianna, Haleigh, Carson, Hayden, Matthew, LaRon, Dylan, Christina, LaZairea, baby Birch; 4 step great grandchildren Bailey, Lyndsy, Karyanna, Kaitlyn, Natasha; a sister Anita Steiner of Rockford, Ill; 3 sisters-in-law Elinor (Bob) Evans of Arena, Patricia Persinger of Excelsior, Sharon (John) Hernan of Excelsior; 3 brothers-in-law Robert (Barb) Persinger of Lone Rock, Lloyd (Gail) Persinger of Adams Friendship, Doug (Karen) Persinger of Richland Center; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Also, his loving Bird Cracker. Doc was preceded in death by his parents, a sister-in-law Viola Glass; father and mother-in-law Everett and Myra Persinger. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at 6:00 PM at the Clary Memorial Funeral Home in Richland Center with Pastor Craig Peach officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the Clary Memorial Funeral Home from 3:00 PM until the time of service at 6:00 PM. On line condolences can be made at www.clarymemorialfuneralhome.com
