Jean Ann Repsumer

May 24, 1947 - May 5, 2022

Obituary Jean Ann Repsumer Jean Ann Repsumer (nee Kast), 74, of Richland Center, WI, passed away peacefully surrounded by her best friend and her family on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse, WI, following a brief illness. Born to George and Molly (Fargen) Kast of Bear Valley, WI, on May 24, 1947, they brought her home from the Richland Center hospital in the Great Memorial Day Blizzard of 1947, when the tulips were blooming through the snow. A larger than life personality, right from the start, Jean Ann grew up on the family farm, spending her childhood and teen years working hard and terrorizing George and Molly, along with her sister and brothers. The stories of their mischief and adventures are known far and wide. She graduated from River Valley High School and worked in the Richland Center area until her retirement. Jean Ann married Larry Repsumer and they made their home in Richland Center for many years until their marriage ended. Always busy and a social butterfly, Jean Ann worked at Farm Credit Services for many years and was also a weekend hostess at area supper clubs; no one ran a dining room as well as Jean Ann could. She learned a love of cooking from her mother early in life and was a legendary cook in her own right, a role she cherished. Our family events will never be the same without her noodles and the greater Richland County area will probably lose a few pounds without her cooking for us any longer. After reuniting with her first love, Bob, they made their home in, and most recently, outside of Richland Center where Jean Ann lived, laughed, and loved, spending time with friends and family, going for Sunday drives, planting flowers, shopping, cooking, and enjoying life to its fullest. Jean Ann never met a stranger; she knew everyone and would know their life story within an hour of meeting. Although she did not have children, Jean Ann was beloved by and cared deeply for the many children of her family and friends. A special step mother to Jeff and ‘Auntsie Jean Ann’ or ‘Mags’ to all, she never missed a birthday, Easter basket, Christmas, graduation, wedding, or event of any of her many ‘kids’ young and old. Jean Ann was a lifelong member of St Mary’s Catholic Church of Richland Center, her faith was an important piece of her life and she took great comfort in practicing her faith and participating in her church community over the years. Jean Ann’s passion for living and loving was as big as her personality; her laughter, smile, and companionship will be missed dearly. She lived for those she loved and those she loved will remember. Jean Ann is survived by her partner of the last 26 years, Robert Simpson, of Richland Center, her most dear and best friend Nancy Schumacher of Richland Center, her sister Mary Jane Howard of Reedsburg, and brothers and sisters-in-law; Jim & Carol, Jerry & Laura, and John & Jeanne Kast, all of Bear Valley, and her step son Jeff Repsumer and family along with many special nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews, godchildren, and dear friends throughout her life. Jean Ann was preceded in death by her parents, George and Molly, her husband, Larry Repsumer, her brother and sister-in-law, Joe & Shirley Kast, her brother-in-law, Mike Howard, three nephews; Timmy Kast, Jason Berberich, & Nathan Kast, along with her spoiled and beloved cats, Ashley, Zeke, & Zach. Honoring Jean Ann’s wishes, a Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at St Mary the Assumption Catholic Church. The family wishes to thank the Richland Hospital and Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center for the kind and compassionate care provided at the end of Jean Ann’s life, Monsignor Roger Scheckel for his spiritual care visits and guidance, and special thanks to her best friend, Nancy Schumacher for being by Jean Ann’s side everyday in her life and at her death; our well of gratitude runs over. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or School. .
