December 3, 1931 - November 15, 2018
Lois Caudill, 86, of Richland Center quietly passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2018, at Pine Valley Community Village. Lois was born on December 3, 1931 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the only child to William and Helen Hager. She was a 1950 graduate of Milwaukee West High School where she found her passion in writing poetry. Lois married her high school sweetheart, Norman Caudill on February 17, 1951. Together they raised their two children, Kathleen and Dan, traveling to many places and enjoying camping, boating, sightseeing, and the outdoors. Lois and Norman moved to Florida in 1978, along with her mother, Helen. They lived close to the Gulf and enjoyed the beach, picking up shells, watching the sunset, eating hotdogs at the beach café, and watching the dolphins – both in the gulf and on the football field. After working as a secretary in Wisconsin and Florida, Lois retired to do the things she loved. She was very involved in her church and loved eating brunch with her friends after the service each Sunday. Lois continued to write poems for her family and loved to make scrapbooks for the grandkids. Lois was a master at sewing all kinds of things, many beautiful quilts, clothes, napkins for every season, and many teddy bears. Lois loved to laugh and said that she was here to make people happy. She was kind and always giving to others. She struggled with Alzheimer’s at the end of her life, but her love of life and those around her could be seen in her eyes. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Pine Valley Community Village and Clary Memorial Funeral Home for your kindness and loving care. Lois is survived by her husband of 67 years, Norman; her children, Kathleen (John) O’Brien of Richland Center; Dan (Kim) Caudill of Oconomowoc WI; grandchildren Jason Caudill of Oconomowoc; Meagan (Nick)Colangelo of Denver CO; Shane Caudill of Milwaukee; Elizabeth O’Brien of Bozeman MT; and Alyssa (Jeremy) Lubus of Milwaukee; nephews Chuck (Donna) Last and Gary Last; and nieces Pam (David) Cureton and Millie Dixon; and many caretakers and friends. Lois was preceded in death by her mother Helen Hager and father William Hager; sister-in-law Virginia Last. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at 1:00 in the Community Room at Pine Valley Community Village. Burial will be held at a future date in Wisconsin Memorial Park. The family suggests that memorials be made in Lois’ name to Pine Valley Community Village or a local Alzheimer’s group of your choice.
