November 17, 1921 - December 25, 2020
Mary Mitchler Allen was born on November 17, 1921 and passed away on Christmas Day, 2020 of natural causes. Mary grew up in Southern California as the oldest of three children born to Joseph Herbert Mitchler and Pearl Ruby Mitchler. Her siblings were Joseph “Bud” Mitchler (deceased) and Florence Mitchler (California). She graduated from a Catholic girls school and married Oliver Keith Allen. Together they had three children who died at birth: Richard Allen, Charles Anthony Allen, and, Christine Alexis Allen. They also had Terry Joe Allen (deceased), Virginia Sears, Roger (Susan) Allen, Mary Elaine Allen and Lisa Annette Allen Brennan. Mostly she was a homemaker who excelled at baking/cooking, gardening, growing orchids, sewing her daughters clothes, keeping a fastidious house while also being the Brownie/Girl Scout leader and creating ceramic pieces. She also found time to bake and decorate Terry’s multi-tiered wedding cake. She worked at several different jobs over her lifetime. The ones she enjoyed the most were: foster mother to Heather E., being an insurance office clerk, and, being a foster grandparent in elementary schools in Muscoda and Boscobel. She enjoyed being a help to the staff and assisting the children. Mary helped out, at one point, with the Senior Meals and was amused when some of the patrons complained to her about their ailments not knowing she was quite bit older than they were and not always in the best of health. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Keith Allen; children: Richard, Charles, Christine, Terry; her brother “Bud”, and, her parents Joe and Pearl Mitchler. She is survived by her children: Virginia Sears, Mary Elaine Allen, Roger Allen, and, Lisa Brennan as well as grandchildren: Richard (Kathi) Franjose, Rebecca (Corey) Mathews, Wade Allen, Harry Allen, Lucas Allen, Nicholas (Amy) Allen, and, Spencer Allen. She is also survived by greatgrandchildren: Megan (Marshall) Reis, Matthew Franjose, Ben Mathews, Frances Mathews, Sawyer Allen, and, Griffin Allen. She is also survived by one sister, Florence Mitchler. May she know she is loved and missed every single day. There will be a visitation at 11:00AM on Thursday, December 31, 2020 with a memorial service following at Noon. Due to Covid there will be no luncheon served and we ask that all attending please wear masks and keep six feet social distancing as much as possible.
