Richard Dean “Dick” “Mac” McKenzie, age 69, of Richland Center passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. Richard was born September 15, 1946 the son of Lawrence & Bernadine (Schmitz) McKenzie. Richard attended the Richland County Teachers College for two years. He served in the United States Army from December 7, 1967 to December 1, 1973. Richard married Joyce Klingaman on August 15, 1970. Together they had two children, Jodi and Jeff. He was employed for 25 years at Simpson Ford Tractor before starting his own home remodeling business. Richard was known for his fine craftsmanship. He made many beautiful pieces of furniture for his family. Richard looked forward to his morning “coffee clutch” at Bailey’s Paint Store. He enjoyed playing poker at Ho-Chunk and was well known as “Dick M” to staff. Dick and Joyce enjoyed their travels and through the years had driven to 49 of the 50 states and enjoyed their fishing trips to North Dakota. He spent much of his time hunting with his son, Jeff with many memorable hunting weeks spent at the “Buck Snort Resort”. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Joyce McKenzie of Richland Center, WI; his daughter, Jodi Peterson of Richland Center and his son, Jeff (Melissa) McKenzie of Onalaska, WI; two grandchildren, Brendan and Bailey Peterson; five brothers, Bill (Prudence) McKenzie of Rockford, IL, Ed (Denise) McKenzie of Potosi, WI, Jerome McKenzie of Green Bay, WI, Ray (Sue) McKenzie of Zumbro Falls, MN, Leonard McKenzie of Madison, WI; three sisters, Yvonne (Loren) Lane of Larned, KS, Mary Tadder of Janesville, WI, Diane (Ron) Fogo of Richland Center, WI; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Joe and Avis Furlano of Onalaska, WI, Norman and Joan Klingaman of Cazenovia, WI, Scott Schuerman of Cottage Grove, WI, Susan McKenzie of Streetsboro, OH; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence “Mac” and Bernadine McKenzie; his brothers, Leo and Mike McKenzie; sisters, Yvette McKenzie and Cheryl Schuerman; brothers-in-law, George Strobel and James Tadder. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Richland Center with Monsignor Scheckel officiating. Military graveside rites will be held at the Woodstock Cemetery with the Local Military Honors Guard. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 1, 2016 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Clary Memorial Funeral Home and also on Saturday at church from 10:00 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM.
