Geraldine Payne

Geraldine Payne, age 68, of Readstown, died Friday, February 21, 2020, at Viroqua. She was born on March 1, 1951, in Hamilton, Ohio, the daughter of Kenneth and Ethel (Bowman) Shepard. She graduated from Hagerstown High School in Hagerstown, Indiana in 1969. On March 17, 1972 she married Robert H. Payne Sr. in Hamilton, Ohio. Geraldine was a CNA for 14 years at Pine Valley Manor in Richland Center. She attended Southwest Tech College and earned her degree in medical office assistant. Geraldine enjoyed sewing, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved her dogs Schnauzer and Roscoe very much. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Survivors include 4 children, Tonya Payne of Readstown, WI, Stacie Payne (Joey Johnson) of Hillsboro, WI, Robert Jr (Bonnie) Payne of Muscoda, WI, Andrew (Gracie) Payne of Westby, WI; 7 grandchildren, Alexia (Justin) Jones of Muscoda, WI, Logan Banker of Hillsboro, Mikalah (Lukas) Melvin of Lone Rock, WI, Madalyn Payne (Andrew Scott) of Richland Center, WI, Kolton Payne of Muscoda, WI, Archer Payne of Westby, WI, Alexis Moen of Richland Center; 6 great grandchildren, Daylen, Jed, and Paxton Jones of Muscoda, WI, Gracelyn Schweitzer and Adrian Haas of Richland Center, WI, Serenity Melvin of Lone Rock; 8 brothers and sisters, Jackline Rhodus of Connersville, IN, Kathy (Jack) Favorite of Hagerstown, IN, Virginia (Steve) Scholz of Lone Rock, WI, Barbara (Greg) Williams of Hamilton, OH, Maynard (Roxanna) Shepard of Hamilton, OH, Bradley (Nenia) Shepard of Hamilton, OH, Paula (Tony) Owens of Hamilton, OH, Wayne Shepard of Hamilton, OH, Geraldine is also survived by her high school best friend Mary Kay Hutchinson of Richmond, IN; many nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, Roosevelt Shepard, Kenneth Shepard Jr, Janice Maupin; a niece, Rachel Maupin; 2 nephews, Billy Favorite and Garrett Shepard. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2020, at 5:00 PM at the Clary Memorial Funeral Home in Richland Center. Friends may call on March 1, 2020 from 3:00 PM until the time of services at 5:00 PM. Burial will be held at a later date in Bear Creek Cemetery near La Farge, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
